The world’s largest mobile operator by sales is facing a series of financial problems blamed on the economic crisis.The Vodafone Group said it will cut 375 jobs in the UK as part of its efforts to reduce costs during the economic downturn.
 
The company currently employes over 9,000 people in the United Kingdom. MarketWatch reports that despited the 375 job cut, Vodafone UK will hire 170 new staff probably in the support department.

The Prospect trade union condemns Vodafone for “lack of consultation”and criticizes the company because it has “learned about the cuts from the media and not directly from the company”, writes MarketWatch.

Vodafone UK will also hire 50 graduates in September. A tough competition for the available jobs as over 3,000 people have applied.
