T-Mobile USA has announced that the Android 1.6 powered Garminfone will begin retailing in June. The company has set the price tag to $199.99 with a 2-year contract.
The company has not offered details on a specific release date. However, they say that the device offers voice guided turn-by-turn directions and features “the carrier says are superior to those offered on Garmin’s high-end personal navigation devices”, writes Mobileburn. The phone also comes with “a host of Garmin services”.
The T-Mobile Garminfone measures 116 x 62.2 x 12 mm and weights no more than 136g. The handset comes with a 3.5 inch TFT capacitive touchscreen display boasting 256k colors and offering a 320 x 480 pixel resolution.
The phone offers WiFi, Bluetooth and 3.6 Mbps HSDPA connectivity support. It comes with 4GB of internal storage space and a microSD card slot for up to 32GB of additional space. The T-Mobile Garminfone is equipped with a 3 megapixel camera with autofocus.
