Mobile Games Innovation Challenge (MGIC) is a new project started by the world leading mobile phones manufacturer Nokia where developers can present their game concepts and win contracts and cash money.

There is nothing like this anywhere else and by all means this is a revolution that Nokia wants to start. Ordinary people are giving a change to express their game developing capabilities, to start forging game concepts and enter the mobile gaming industry. With this project Nokia intends to find capable developers who’s ideas my innovate mobile gaming and bring this kind of entertainment to a different level.

Developers are giving a change to get rid of anonymity; this is a worldwide project so it doesn’t matter your place of origin, meaning you simply go to their website and send them your game concept. All you have to do is rely on the features and functionalities of N-Gage compatible devices, JAVA or Symbian based series 40 or S60 made by Nokia.

Prizes are as high as this event’s importance. The first three prices will automatically receive pre-production contracts by Nokia Publishing, but cash amount is devised according to an ancient principle: the first gets far more than the last. Thus, the first prize receives in addition 40,000 euros, second prize gets 20,000 euros and the third 10,000 euros; these amounts are given for pursuing materialization of their game concept.

The contest has already begun! But don’t haste, relax, stand back and create a splendid game, since the jury will pick the three most fun, feasible and market friendly game concepts. This means that you should develop your game concepts with calm. Yes, I did say concepts, Nokia encourages contestants to send more than one game concept.

Submissions last until August 20, 2008 and the winners will be announced by an external panel of judges during a special award ceremony at the Nokia Game Summit in Rome, Italy on October 29-30, 2008.

So don’t hesitate and start making games! One more thing, a very important one, the deadline for submissions is August 20, 2008 at 11:59 p.m. GMT.
