Nokia may sell over 500 million phones in 2010 V.J. | , 2:07 बजे Jan. 4, 2010 2010-01-04

Nokia is still leading the mobile industry market. A senior company executive said that Nokia is expecting to sell over 500 million mobile phones this year. A figure that some analysts consider above market expectations.

Even if the economic crisis is still responsible for countless job cuts in different industries, the mobile phone industry, however, remains optimistic. According to a Reuters poll consensus made in November, Nokia was to sell about 458 million units. However, Nokia’s mobile phone unit chief Rick Simonson has told Reuters that his company will sell over 500 million. The senior executive has, however, refused to make a new forecast.

"In 2010, Nokia will ship over 500 million units across three platforms, which will be about 40 percent of the global market share," he said.

Simonson did not comment on the November poll conducted by Reuters adding that Nokia’s forecast was made on December 2. Nokia’s forecast included 10 percent growth in mobile phone market in 2010 while the company’s market share will probably remain the same as in 2009.
