Nokia today introduced the Oro, an 18-carat gold plated smartphone embedded with a sapphire crystal and clothed in the finest Scottish leather.

Technically, Oro features the same high-grade qualities as the other recently released smartphones. Updated with the latest Symbian Anna OS, the Nokia Oro comes with pentaband radio connectivity, HSDPA 3G and WiFi. At the first look, users will be introduced to a  3.5-inch AMOLED display and an 8-megapixel camera with 720p video recording. Whilst functionally its the same as the rest of the Nokia smartphones, it rarity lies in its exquisite looks specially crafted as a business phone.

The Nokia Oro is being manufactured only for a few selective markets to the likes of Middle East and Russia market where such kind of phones have sold like hot cakes. From Q3 2011, the smartphone will start shipping to selected countries across the Europe, Eastern Europe, China and the Middle East.
Before local taxes and operator subsidies (neither of which you’re likely to be too concerned about if you’re a customer for this device), it will cost upwards of EUR 800.
