Google Maps expanded to Canada and several European countries V.J. | , 9:37 बजे June 10, 2010 2010-06-10

Google has informed that the company’s free Google Maps Navigation service is now available in several countries including Canada. Google has expanded its free navigation service to Europe as well and a number of countries now benefit from this service.

In Europe, the introduction of Google Maps Navigation services was, in some points of view, timid. In Eastern Europe the service is still waiting full implementation. However, the company has announced that Austria, Belgium, Denmark, France, Germany, Italy, the Netherlands, Portugal, Spain and Switzerland have now full Google Maps Navigation service.

The services comes as an alternative to Nokia’s Ovi Maps that was made available for free earlier this year. Google Maps 4.2 is available for download at the Android Market. However, in order to use it the user must be in a supported country and the phone has to be running Android 1.6 or higher.

Users in supported countries in Europe and in Canada cand now have a full view of the traffic, an indicator glows green, yellow or red based on the current traffic along your route. Satellite view is also available which offers you 3D views with Google’s high-resolution aerial imagery. As you approach your destination the Street View service becomes active. A pretty useful service.
