Not even a week ago, Ericsson began supplying 2G and 3G services to China, improving the country’s mobile communication network. Today the Swedish company announced another agreement with TIM Brazil, the largest local GSM operator. From now on Ericsson will provide WCDMA/HSPA network, thus starting a mobile broadband in eight states across Brazil.

Acre, Distrito Federal, Goias, Mato Grosso, Mato Grosso do Sul, Rondonia, Sao Paolo and Tocantis are the state in which Ericsson will suply 2G/3G common core network and radio access network.

Brazilian user will enjoy fast mobile internet acces, mobile TV and video, allowing customers to quicly check email and browse internet as well as giving a boost to mobile entertainment in Brazil.

TIM Brasil already offers 2G services, meaning they provide GSM, GPRS and EDGE, and this is where Ericsson comes in. The Swedish firm will upgrade TIM’s services to high-speed 3G and will provide different consulting services as network development, technology and systems integration of end user platforms and applications.

Seems like Ericsson fights on two fronts, one recently opened in China and this new one in the other part of the World. A wise maneuver?
