China Mobile, the country’s largest mobile phone operator plans to launch its own online application store where users can buy software designed for their China Mobile supported handsets.
China Mobile says the launch of its online mobile phone application store by the end of August is part of its plan to maintain the leading position in the 3G area.
The mobile phone carrier will offer in its upcoming app store third-party games, themes, music and videos. The store will be called Mobile Market and users will pay for what they download via mobile phone bills.
China Mobile says that the Mobile Market will offer software for handsets produced by Nokia, HTC and Motorola among others. Software for Apple’s iPhone will not be available at the online mobile phone software store.
