Review of the LG CT810 Incite

The LG Incite was LG’s try at an all-in-one Windows smartphone that did all of a typical user’s daily chores and more. It could be placed at the high-end of the spectrum competing with phones like Samsung Omnia or HTC Diamond. It comes with a pretty impressive feature-set uncommon in most Windows Mobile smartphones. Look, Design, Feel (8/10)

The LG Incite has a flush design, though it doesn’t mimic Apple’s iPhone, the qualities are there. LG has done away with a metallic design, and made the Incite from plastic with a glossy paint. Overall the finish of the LG Incite looked good but was susceptible to smudges. There’s no keypad or QWERTY at all, but we were worried there’s also no D-pad! LG’s new interface looked classy on the bright 3.0”inch touch screen. The LG Incite is not super-slim, but definitely pocketable at 14mm. It’s slightly set back by the heavy weight of 120 grams.

Features (9/10)

The LG Incite has a good overall feature set. LG has provided the Incite with a nice touch interface, which makes life easier for the Windows Mobile user. Though not as responsive as the HTC Touch, icons were thoughtfully designed to respond to finger-touch and almost all user needs are fulfilled by the LG Incite’s touch interface. The Incite comes with Windows Mobile 6.1 Professional. The 3-Megapixel autofocus camera did not disappoint us with the good pictures, but lacked a flash. The LG Incite has a 256MB Flash ROM with 70MB free for user storage. Memory expansion is through a hot-swappable microSD slot, with SDHC support tested with 32GB cards. The phone blazed through most tasks with its Qualcomm 528MHz CPU and 128MB RAM. LG has implemented a half-QWERTY keyboard for fast touch-input in portrait mode. There’s support for CV streaming media and most video and audio formats. The Incite has a 3.0” touch screen sporting a resolution of 240x400 pixels. The LG Incite’s music playback was up to the mark; there’s also a bundled FM radio. The GPS on the LG Incite worked very well, warming up in about 5 seconds. AT&T has a Navigator subscription app which works well and costs $10 a month, but Google Maps works just as well.

Connectivity (9/10)

Connectivity was prominent in the LG Incite CT810. There’s support for Quadband GSM and Global HSDPA. Though AT&T was first to promote this phone, the phone works with almost any 3G or 2G carrier in the world. EDGE Class 10 and HSDPA 3.6 Mbps provide for data connectivity across the continents. Local connectivity was very good with Bluetooth 2.0 EDR A2DP, WLAN 802.11b/g and USB 2.0 support.

Performance (8/10)

The LG Incite CT810 has a good battery backup with almost 3 weeks of rated standby time. Powered by a 1030 mAh Li-ion, the LG Incite performed well in the real world, enduring over a day and half of heavy usage. Talk time rated by LG was 8 hours.
