I have tested several applications (call recorder, All Calls, etc.) to record phone conversations on the phone, none of them work except to activate the speaker, which is boring.
I just checked, and in fact this is the button that enabled recording, this recording option was possible on my iPhone thanks to the (call recorder app iphone [apps.apple.com]). Apparently, not all phones are compatible.
Have you tried this app? It works best if you're rooted.
