The immense success that the new T-Mobile issued ‘Google Phone’ has is unarguable. It sold in million, yet it seems that the handset is not as secure as everyone thought.

The smartphone has a serious security flaw, as a security research group has recently found in the Android software. This can cause the same damage that an unprotected PC has if an attack is successfully done.

The flaw could be exploited by an attacker who sends the G1 user to a web site, this will allow the attacker to cause serious damage to the phone. However, Google says that the phone limits the extent of damage that may be done, compared to PCs.

Google phones create a series of software compartments that limit the access of an intruder to a single application, writes the New York Times.

It is generally accepted that the G1’s operating system, Android is pretty much unbreakable, yet risks always arise.
