I bought this for £257 on ebay, it has theft
related damage and there are no keys. I'm storing it in a friends shed,
going to buy new parts/upgrades over time. First thing to fix is the
keys and locks.


Does the 1997 er-5 have coded key/cdi?


I found this, it states it may fit 96-00 A+B models, Is it possible to swap barrels on fuel caps?

I don't think the 1997 Kawasaki ER-5 has a coded key, although you should talk to more experienced people. I doubt my answer because I had a 1999 Kawasaki motorcycle, and when I duplicated the keys, I had to find the VIN code to make the keys for me. So it turns out the 1999 Kawasaki models have a coded key, but I'm not sure about yours, friend. By the way, I thought that if you have a coded key, it means that you cannot duplicate the keys, but I turned to this service -- carkeyduplication.com [carkeyduplication.com], and I quickly had duplicate keys made for my motorcycle.
